So we have had some really fun photo shoots lately.
I just put a few new photos on our blog,
so go check them out and leave me some love :)

12/25/08 01:19 am - Why I love Christmas:

RAWRachelockwood:  did joe tell you?!
 RAWRachelockwood:  we totally convinced andy
that there is a santa clause
and.. he put out milk and cookies
 me:  hahah! you did??
RAWRachelockwood:  and he totally believes us
 me:  that's awesome!!
RAWRachelockwood:  danny will be like "andy, tehre really isn't a santa clause.."
and andy will be like "i don't care what you say, yes there is!"
and then danny told him santa was gonna come through their bedroom window because we don't have a chimney.
 me:  hahaha
RAWRachelockwood:  so andy cleared out everything from the spot where their window is
and put out cool things just in case santa wanted to play with them
 me:  how considerate!

Merry Christmas, guys!!

I'm watching the Victoria's Secret fashion show and my brain is short circuiting.

I love lingerie & photography. Maybe someday I'll be backstage snapping photos :) Anybody else watch it?

Sunday, Joe and I went over to the McCollister's to finally meet baby McKenna! Terri is a good friend of mine, and such a beautiful person. I shot her pregnancy photos a while back, so it was great to work with her and Tim again. McKenna is just 5 weeks old, super sweet and I wanted to take her home with me. I hope we start booking a lot more newborn and pet shoots because I love them!

And one that I think Jen-

[info]her_aesthetic - will appreciate!

Their dobermans- Trigger and Copper are brothers and they so smart! Terri is a zoologist and Tim trains dogs for the military so they are great puppy parents :) Aren't they awesome?

12/5/08 02:39 am

Good day, my little kitty cats :) They promised snow, but I saw sunshine today. I'm pretty tired out because I worked really hard today and then came home and finished editing a portrait session, which for some reason took forever!

I haven't watermarked them, so here are just a couple of my favorites. I'm kinda half awake, so I'm hoping they don't actually look horrible.

My happiest thought today was knowing that Joe is coming over tomorrow!! And he got a new car! That makes me so happy because his little Jetta is awesome but not reliable at all. And seeing as we have to drive 2 hours to see each other on the weekends, a reliable car is kinda crucial to our relationship. We have SO MANY photo sessions and appointments booked for this weekend, so we'll make some money and get to be together. I value every single second.

Another awesome thing that happened today- I received a random email from the 2011 class adviser from South Jeff high school- my alma mater- asking if we would be available to photograph their Christmas Ball this Saturday. I let her know that we would love to do it, and we tried to figure out the details. I'm not sure if it'll work out or not, but I'm really stoked that they asked. We were also asked to shoot  the junior prom at Harrisville Centrel this spring. I'm trying to figure out the best way to set up for an event like that- since we are more lifestyle, natural photographers we don't have the back drops and equipment to really set up for posed portraits indoors. I've been looking into getting a set up started. And speaking of prom- another idea I'm excited to try is dress trashing shoots for prom! They are a fun, creative way to get another use out of their normally one hit wonder dress and capture some prom photos with style. These could be set up as indiviuals, couples, best friends, or groups. I wish I had this option when I was in school! I found a great session from a photographer in Texas- check it out here. Do you think that high school students would get into it?

12/4/08 01:34 am - happy little thoughts

Sometimes it seems that when I sit down to write anything, I naturally want to vent out all the things that are troubling me. Honestly- finances, distance from Joe, work, and family issues have been taking their toll on my emotional state lately.

So, I have decided that I want to start posting the happy little thoughts that pop into my head, or the things that happen to make me smile throughout the day. Because those are the things that I want to focus on in life :)

1. CUPCAKES

I am so in love with cupcakes. I want to make them for everyone in the world. I asked Joe for a cupcake kit from Barnes and Noble- it has a recipe book, super cute cupcake papers, a frosting bag and a few different piping tips. I've been craving them so much today. What's your favorite kind of cupcake?  I really hope I get that kit for Christmas! :)

2. CHRISTMAS IN THE CITY

Today as I was working in the town of Lowville, I paused to notice all the old victorian homes small town storefronts dressed up in twinkly lights and decorations. Not only that, but so many of the salons that I service have signs and boxes to help support needy families, hospice, and our troops. I know that it should be all year round, but I love that this time of year is so conducive of selflessness, giving, and love. I'm trying hard not to stress about being able to afford awesome gifts and trying to enjoy the bet things in life- because they really are free.

3. KANYE WEST- 808s and Heartbreak

Kanye West's new album kept me company in the car while working today. This album is artistic pop- and basically true to it's title. 808s referring to the Roland TR-808 that backs the tracks and the prominent heartbroken theme that laces itself through the lyrics. My favorite tracks are "Love Lockdown" and "Heartless". What song do you like?

4. OFFBEATBRIDE.COM

Photography is my passion. Weddings are my obsession. Since I hope to be a bride someday soon, and I'm constantly looking forward to all the upcoming weddings we're photographing, I absolutely revel in the Offbeat Bride blog. It's a blog dedicated to unconventional, nontraditional, and otherwise AMAZING weddings- and the photos are to die for. Some of the posts are lame, but for the most part I am always inspired as a photographer and a future bride. I was especially stoked this evening when I visited the site to see this lovely tattooed bride, on a bike, wearing a birdcage veil. Anyone who knows me realizes that this is kinda my dream situation. Haha. I can't wait for Joe to propose ;)

Well, I'm going to go read some more of Breaking Dawn by Stephanie Meyer. I hope you all have a lovely day and happy thoughts, too :)

11/9/08 11:23 pm

So our weekend has been so nice! After this week, it's been great to be able to relax. Joe and I hung out Friday night and watched Shakespeare in Love, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Then Saturday night we went bowling at Seaway Lanes with Silas and Joey B. I was victorious with a record breaking score of 119. Joe went back home today, so I spent most of the day catching up on some editing. I finished up the portrait session we shot of the lovely sisters; Jan, Gail, and Teresa. We shot their session on a college campus in Utica- they are a gift for their parents for Christmas. I think their parents will love these! We had a lot of fun, and established that you are NEVER too old for leaf piles, tire swings, and jumpin off stuff :)

So... a lot has been going on for Joe and I this past week! My week was horrible, but Joe's was awesome. Mine started out alright- I coloured my hair, and I love it! But... my week decided to derail halfway through. If you didn't know, besides running Bella Terra, I also work for a professional beauty supply company- Cosmoprof. I travel to professional salons in the northern NY area and set up salon education, show new products, and order all their supplies for them. So anyways, I was heading out to work in Potsdam- it was a gorgeous day, I was rockin out to some Postal Service.... annnnd was going 75 in a 55. Oooops. So.. I got pulled over, and then found out that my liscence was surrendered because I hadn't renewed it yet! I totally didn't even realize! So the cop wouldn't let me drive home, and he wrote me 2 tickets. I just took my car in to get inspected 2 days prior [thankfully!], but I found out that I needed new tires and brake pads in addition to an oil change and inspection. So I had that extra expense and now I have to pay for 2 tickets! So I basked in my horribleness as I sat in my car for over an hour waiting for my grandparents to come pick me up. What a horrible day. So if you want to book a holiday session, I could totally pay my tickets. Haha.

On the brighter side, Joe has been looking for another job for a while. After wedding season, our income isn't as steady. One of his friends told him about a job at this loan company, doing customer service. So he applied, and had an interview a couple of days later. There were a bunch of people interviewing that day also, so he was a bit skeptical about being hired. But apparently, he nailed the interview and they hired him on the spot! He starts in a couple of weeks. He will be working monday-friday 2:30-11 with weekends off, so we'll still have plenty of time to book shoots and hang out! He also makes a pretty awesome zombie basketball player, so he's got that going for him.

11/7/08 08:59 am

The other day, Joe and I shot a session with the adorably cute little Marra. We went over to the Backyard Farmer and let her play in the pumpkins. It was a lot of fun... although we did have a hard time keeping up with her. Two-year-olds are FAST.

This week has been one of the hardest, saddest, and worst of my life.

One of Joe's best friends died from a drug overdose.
His name was Ryan Schultz and he was 24 years old.
Joe was hanging out with him the day before he died.
I hadn't seen him in years, but we used to hang out with him when we were younger.

My Dad sent this to me. He's so great.

My Holga arrived today!
But.. the film didn't. And there are no camera shops or anywhere to buy medium format film around here.
I can't wait to take some photos with it. I will post them for you :)

i ' m   s o   h a p p y .

I am electric.
My skin is bumble bees that buzz and crawl and sing.
The world became a new place while I was sleeping.

I am awake with inspiration.
Kingdom Bound reorganized my thoughts,
and changed the way I feel about God, myself, and other people.
I feel so full of love and beauty.
Reinvented.

While we were there, I made so many new friends.
Mainly the boys of Enemy Opposition skate, inline, and BMX team and their lovely ladies.
I also got to see some wonderful old friends.
Real Christians DO exist and my heart is aching for that fellowship again.

I finished and delivered Dan & Brittany's photos,
and then shot another wedding in Mexico, NY this weekend.
I just love photographing weddings.
The emotions are so raw. I will have some images from that event to post real soon.

I am halfway through reading "The Host" by Stephanie Meyer,
and picked up "Breaking Dawn" when I got home.
Has anyone read it yet? I'm so excited and worried that I will be disappointed.
Yesterday, Joe and I went to Lowe's and got all the supplies we needed to make nunchucks from scratch.
They are so badass. Joe is a ninja and has the sweetest nunchuck skills.
That's why I'm marrying him.

BACK IN PINK.
I feel more like myself already.
Joe and I are getting ready to shoot a wedding today and I can't wait!
Life is so beautiful right now.

Kingdom Bound 2008
is
amazing.

This is the first year I've been here that I have no obligations or restrictions of any kind.
I'm staying with Joe's family and so far, I've been having a blast.

I find that there is no place or time where I feel more myself then when I am here.
All confusion fades away, I see myself as a part of a whole- and my identity comes rushing back.
I'm not my job, I'm not my clothes, I'm not anything.
I am just a flawed human being seeking and finding truth in Jesus Christ.
It's so freeing.

I will post pictures this week.

" Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart
and shattered the rocks before the LORD,
but the LORD was not in the wind.
After the wind there was an earthquake,
but the LORD was not in the earthquake.
After the earthquake came a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire.
And after the fire came
a gentle whisper."

I have to share these gorgeous photos that Joseph took!
He went to his friend Eric's wedding in Erie, PA this weekend and got some great shots.
I want to photograph more tattooed couples!!!

7/13/08 01:34 am

I haven't posted in quite some time.
Probably because I have been so busy with
MY
NEW
JOB.
It's been tiring getting started, but I absolutely love it.
It's easy, fun, and the pay is awesome.

Anyways- besides that- my brother is turning 16 this month and
Joseph is turning 22 on the 22nd.
For Silas's birthday we're going on a boat tour to Boldt Castle and the drive-in movies.
For Joseph's birthday I'm planning an overnight camping party at Southwicks Beach with all his friends!
And then the Sackets Harbor Can-Am Festivel is inbetween.
I love summer.

Here are some photos from the second wedding that Joseph and I have done together.
This wedding party was so much fun, and the bride & groom have a wonderful relationship.
I love doing this!

6/22/08 01:37 pm

I FINALLY finished editing the photos from Jesse & Lydia's wonderful wedding.
There were so many, so I'm posting a copy of the slideshow I made for them under the cut.
Do you like it?

6/21/08 02:30 am

I'M TWENTY ONE YEARS OLD!
I had a wonderful birthday Thursday.
I came downstairs to fresh flowers, pink balloons, cheesecake and A NEW LAPTOP.
I also got an amazing touch screen GPS from Joseph which is something I won't be able to live without when I start my new job [MONDAY!]
I had an awesome lunch photo consultation with the lovely Ms. Cean- I am so excited for that photoshoot.
Then for dinner,
Joseph, Mom, Silas, and I went out to eat at my favorite restaurant- Tin Pan Galley in Sackets Harbor.
I had the most amazing cavatelli pasta dish with spinach and artichoke dip.
I would eat there 3 times a day if it wasn't ungodly expensive.
After dinner, we walked down to the harbor and took some pictures.
My mom and I used to breed Boston Terrier puppies,
and so we went to visit one of our pups since we were near her house.
As you can see from above, she is one happy puppy with her new family :)

YAY!
This morning, I got a call from Loeffler's.
I GOT THE JOB!
I'd had two interviews for the distributor sales consultant position,
and had been waiting anxiously to hear back about it for weeks.
The job starts at a salary of $500 a week + 12% commissions on all sales, and a gas allowance.
It also has 401K and an amazing insurance plan that includes life insurance, health, dental and vision.
[Which I need really bad! I've been without insurance for over a year...]

My job responsibilities will include driving to salons in Watertown, Lowville,
Goveneour, and other surrounding areas
to represent the beauty supply store, Loeffler's.
I will have to use my charm and sales skills to sell new products and take bulk sales orders from salons.
Challenging, but fun!
This is a really great job, with super flexible hours so my photography business won't suffer whatsoever.
It's generally a Tuesday-Friday 9-5 kinda thing, but it's whatever works for me, really.
I'm so thankful that God has opened up this door for me.

So, besides that, we've had requests for wedding photography like crazy!
We booked a wedding for this August yesterday which was unexpected and awesome.
We have been so lucky to have really fun and laid-back couples to work with thus far.
I've been working on editing photos like crazy from last weekend's wedding. We took so many pictures!!

And before I forget, here are a couple of photos I took a while ago, and forgot to post.
:)
